Independent Living Skills Training


Independent Living Skills Training is provided to individuals with disabilities who need assistance with basic home management skills.  Nutritional education classes are offered along with food preparation and storage safety instructions.  Personal hygiene and health factors are addressed in addition to the safe management of medications.  Money management and budgeting resources are available.  Legal issues such as Living Wills and other factors involved in “Getting One’s Life in Order” as precautionary measures are addressed.  Emergency preparedness classes and presentations are provided.  Communications is addressed at all levels when a disability presents a barrier.  Mobility is promoted and taught in many cases.  Individual counseling is available upon scheduled appointment.  Resources are available and pursued by Independence Place to enhance quality of life.  Independence Place is committed to educating individuals with disabilities to live safely and fully within the community.
